What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is an effective and relatively quick method of triggering a release of natural growth factors, new collagen and elastin. This process fosters new skin cell growth.

What does Microneedling help treat?

Microneedling is a safe and effective method to activate cellular regeneration while addressing an array of skin conditions, to include:

What areas of the body can be treated with Microneedling?

Microneedling is safe to use on several parts of the body, although it is most common to be treated on the face, neck and chest. At Ellemes Medical Spa, we provide treatments on all of the following areas:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Décolletage
  • Hands
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Abdomen
  • Back

How many treatments will I need?

One treatment may be all you need for desired results; however, we typically recommend a series of three treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart for optimal results. Results may vary depending on the condition of the skin being treated, as more advanced scarring may require additional treatments. Nonetheless, improvement should be expected after each and every treatment.

How does microneedling work?

During the microneedling procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin at precise levels. These micro-injuries help the skin produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s natural repair process ultimately results in a thicker dermis, more radiance and the appearance of softer facial lines or wrinkles.

What will happen during the treatment?

Your skin will be cleansed and a topic anesthetic will be applied 30 minutes prior to your treatment. A sterile needle-tip containing tiny micro-needles will be run across the treatment area. By creating hundreds of small controlled micro-injuries, collagen production is increased across the treated area and the skin is rejuvinated.

When should I see results after the procedure?

The results of treatment are both immediate and progressive. Many patients begin to see the effectiveness of the treatment after their first visit; however, a series of 3 or more treatments is often recommended, depending on severity of their skin concerns. The skin’s repair process begins immediately after one treatment. Fibroblasts – the cells that synthesize new collagen – are active for up to as much as one year after just one treatment. New collagen and increased elastin production results in younger-looking, healthier, plumper, and firmer skin. The results improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, pore size, reduce acne scars and more, for an overall better skin tone and texture.
