With over 10 years of experience in the beauty industry, I know first hand that finding a quality skin care expert can be a daunting task.

Today we take the time to interview a local beauty expert that I personally know and trust, and that’s Atlanta Esthetician Jaycee Zotti. Keep reading and learn a little more about her prod

Introducing Atlanta Aesthetician Jaycee Zotti

So tell us a little about yourself 🙂

Hey everyone! My name is Jaycee. I grew up in Marietta, Georgia and spent a little time in Ft. Lauderdale and Savannah as well. I come from a household blended with Mexican and German backgrounds. Growing up, eating food was so fun..lol! I currently live in West Midtown and am working on getting my first puppy!

What made you want to become an esthetician?

Ever since I was little, I would always play in my grandmother’s skincare and makeup. I have always loved skincare, and always had clear skin. Until, about a week before my senior year pictures. My skin blew up, particularly my forehead, and I had NO idea what was causing it. I went down this rabbit hole and was trying everything from drugstore to sephora, to medical skincare. I became obsessed with ingredients and learning about the benefits of each! I still am! I also got super into internal practices and healing. From what I’ve learned throughout the years, what you put into your body truly does matter! I experimented with being vegan, reduced processed sugars and foods, cut out sodas, etc. Since then, my approach to skincare has been a combination of holistic therapies and medical aesthetics to help with overall health as well as acne. My expertise has accelerated into a passion of internal and external medicine practices to achieve healthy skin.

What are you most passionate about when it comes to skincare?

Definitley everything medical in this industry! I love it all. Particularly, clients that deal with acne whether it’s comedonal, non-inflammed, or cystic. There are a lot of factors that can contribute to acne. The wrong topicals, diet, allergies to food, detergent, dirty makeup brushes, etc. Skin is very complex, so the majority of the time it is trial and error if you aren’t working with a professional.

What do you love most about being an esthetician?

I live for making people feel confident. Dealing with acne myself, I know how acne can truly impact your self-esteem and be debilitating for accomplishing everyday activities. With that being said, I love being able to experience showing clients their before and after pictures post treatments. The joy and excitement on their faces :’). There are few feelings that match what I feel when I have super transformative clients that are dealing with acne or hyperpigmentation. Those two conerns are by far my favorite to tackle. I love a challenge!

In your opinion what characterizes a good aesthetician?

An aesthetician that loves being a sponge. Well, not an actual sponge- just continuing to learn! Continued education is SUPER important these days. This industry is ever growing and booming. It’s super important to continue to do your homework, take refreshers, and continue to learn more! As well as, always being comfortable and open with brainstorming with colleages about treatment plans for clients.

If you had one piece of advice to give to your clients what would it be?

Stick to our plan! You’ve gotta stay consistent with your skincare routine. I really only use and recommend medical grade skincare, which have quick results, but even then these products take anywhere from 4-12 weeks to see a difference. Not just an improvement but a difference! Also, don’t trust influencers and randoms on IG for advice!

If you had one piece of advice to give to new estheticians what would it be?

Find out through extended research and classes all of the different services out there. There are a lot of little niches in aesthetics. I highly recommend continuing to learn once out of school because it will only help you grow. The more you try, the more you’ll figure out what you personally like more or would like the specialize in. Be the best at something!

What do you consider the toughest aspect of this job?

Having to break it to someone that the majority of their routine, if not their entire routine, is trash. It makes me so sad. Skin is an investment and alot of these products are not cheap! Luckily, most of my clients don’t care and are just ready to have healthy skin. All of my clients are super open to changing their routines and making lifestyle changes to help with their concerns.

What is your favorite treatment?

My favorite treatment is definitley a toss up between Hydrafacials and Microneedling. I love the results over time for both. With Hydrafacials, we’re upkeeping skin health, providing a medium depth exfoliation, and hydrating the skin. This in turn helps a lot with non-inflammed and comedonal acne because of the amazing serums as well as extractions. *chefs kiss*. With Microneedling, we’re stimulating collagen with causing micro-injuries to the skin. This helps a lot with pore size, texture, fine lines, acne scarring, and brightening. Love it.

What is one thing that you’d like to see change about the esthetics industry?

I wish aesthetican’s were more supportive on social media! I see a lot of fake love on instagram, and it’s really a shame.

What’s something fun about yourself that you’d like to share?

I love hot yoga! I try to go like two or three times a week at least. It is amazing at relieving stress. Since I’m sitting the majority of the day, I used to get really bad upper back and neck pain prior to starting hot yoga. Since then, it’s been a lifesaver. Sweating that often is also amazing for detoxing your body and skin and releasing a lot of heavy metals and toxins.

What’s your favorite skincare product?

I have too many.. it’s scary. But my favorite right now especially with summer around the corner, is Elta MD UV Clear sunscreen. It is amazing for sensitive and acne prone skin!
