BBL treatment for facial redness at ELLEMES Medical Spa

How it works

What causes the redness

Facial redness usually comes from two places: structural vascular dilation (rosacea, broken capillaries) and surface inflammation — the red marks (PIE) left behind after acne heals.

Structural redness needs the damaged vessels closed. Targeted light therapy like BBL heats and collapses broken blood vessels beneath the skin, and your body reabsorbs them — clearing the visible red webs.

For inflammatory redness and PIE, we focus on rebuilding the skin barrier with gentle exfoliation and deep hydration. Treating both the vessels and the barrier reduces flare-ups and brings back a calmer, more even tone.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Can facial redness be permanently cleared?
It depends on the cause. Broken capillaries and sun-induced redness can be cleared for good. Genetic flushing like rosacea is a chronic vascular condition, so it needs ongoing management and occasional maintenance sessions.
What is PIE (Post-Inflammatory Erythema)?
PIE is the flat, pink-to-red marks left behind after a breakout heals — caused by vascular damage and trapped blood near the surface. It’s different from brown marks (PIH) and responds well to chemical peels and gentle laser facials.
Does vascular laser treatment hurt?
Most patients find BBL very tolerable — often described as a quick, warm rubber-band snap. Because redness-prone skin is sensitive, we use sapphire cooling tips to keep the skin comfortable throughout.
Why is my skin always red and stinging?
If your skin stings even with a basic moisturizer, you likely have a compromised skin barrier (often from over-exfoliating or too much retinol). That calls for barrier repair and soothing hydration first — not more lasers or peels.
How many sessions will I need?
For distinct broken capillaries, often 1 to 3 sessions. For widespread diffuse redness or stubborn PIE, usually 3 to 6 sessions spaced a few weeks apart for an even tone.
