A back facial typically involves cleansing and exfoliating the skin of your back, followed by steaming and extraction. The treatment finishes with topical masques and specialized serums and moisturizers (BHA/AHA) to hydrate and tighten your pores.
You can also get a treatment that focuses on specific areas such as the upper or lower back area. This treatment will focus on those specific regions while still providing you with an overall back treatment.
There are a few things to consider prior to getting your back facial. First, make sure you have a clean back free of lotions or oils. Second, check with your esthetician as to whether they want you to take off any clothing during the process. It is also ideal for you to wear something you can slip on and off easily for this service. If wearing a shirt or bra, please bring an additional shirt to be worn after your back facial treatment as the draping involved in several parts of the procedure may get wet from steam and shampoo suds.
Your esthetician will start by cleansing your back with a gentle cleanser. They will then use an exfoliating scrub to slough off any dead skin cells. Next, they will apply steam to open your pores and allow the extractor to do its job. Finally, they will apply a masque and serum to your skin and finish with a moisturizer.
We recommend getting a back facial every 4-6 weeks optimal results. However, if you have a lot of sun damage or acne scarring, you may opt to get a back facial once a month.
You will want to use products with salicylic acid post-back facial in order to help exfoliate your skin and prevent new breakouts from occurring on your back. We also recommend using a moisturizer that contains SPF 30+ for protection against future UV damage.
