Top Benefits
-
Controlled exfoliation — dissolves damaged surface cells and accelerates cell turnover for clearer, smoother skin.
-
Adjustable depth — three levels matched to your skin type, downtime tolerance, and treatment goals.
- Tone and texture — selected peels can improve uneven surface pigment and roughness.
Skin Concerns
Treats post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) and shallow acne scarring, sun damage and age spots, melasma (with a careful progressive approach), fine lines and wrinkles, rough texture and enlarged pores, active acne and congestion, and dull or uneven skin tone. For deeper pitted scars or significant laxity, RF microneedling or laser resurfacing may be paired with peels for more complete correction.
Ideal Candidate
Suitability depends on the formulation, depth, skin tone, and medical history. Peels can cause burns, infection, scarring, and lasting pigment changes. Tell us about pregnancy, breastfeeding, cold sores, allergies, isotretinoin, active irritation, and recent procedures. VI Peel has specific contraindications; ask your prescriber before changing prescription skincare.
Treatable Areas
Face is the most common treatment area. Body peels are available for the back, chest, neck, décolleté, and arms — particularly effective for back acne, chest pigmentation, and rough texture in areas that don’t respond to topical products alone. Body peels are priced by coverage area: Small $350 (upper back or smaller area), Medium $400 (full back), Large $650 (full back plus additional area).
Fresh Skin, Your Depth
Why You'll Love It
A medical-grade peel matched to your skin, from a light refresh to a deeper correction.
Controlled Exfoliation
Removes damaged surface cells and accelerates cell turnover, improving texture and clarity over successive treatments.
Adjustable Depth
Different formulations address different concerns. The clinic’s three service levels are options to discuss, not a reason to choose the strongest treatment.
Tone Correction
Selected surface discoloration and texture can improve after healing. The amount of change varies by concern and skin response.
Dialed to Your Skin
Product selection and repeat timing reflect how your skin responds.
Concerns a Chemical Peel Addresses
These concerns call for different approaches. The consultation helps decide whether a peel fits the diagnosis and your recovery preferences.
Acne Scars & PIH
Flat post-acne pigment and indented scars are different concerns. A peel can address selected surface changes; deeper scars may need a scar-specific assessment and another treatment.
Sun Damage & Age Spots
Selected peels can improve sun-related discoloration. New, changing, or unusual spots need medical assessment before cosmetic treatment. BBL is a separate option for selected concerns, with its own skin-type screening.
Melasma & Uneven Tone
Melasma is a recurring condition influenced by sun exposure, hormones, and genetic factors. A peel may be part of a plan, but irritation can worsen pigment. Appropriate home care and sun protection remain central.
Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Fine lines form as collagen production slows and the epidermis thins with age. Medium and deep chemical peels stimulate a wound-healing response that triggers new collagen synthesis, gradually smoothing fine lines over a treatment series. For dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated muscle contraction (forehead, crow’s feet, frown lines), pairing a peel series with neurotoxins addresses both the structural and muscular components of aging.
Rough Texture & Pores
Exfoliation can improve some surface roughness and the appearance of pores. Adding dermaplaning increases exfoliation and should be assessed for the exact peel and your skin.
Active Acne & Congestion
Selected peels may be considered alongside acne care, but they do not replace established treatment. The AAD acne guidelines found insufficient evidence to recommend chemical peels as an acne procedure. Active inflammatory acne also affects eligibility for other services.
Chemical Peels vs. Laser Resurfacing
Both treatments resurface the skin to improve texture, tone, and scarring. The key difference is in mechanism — chemical peels use acid solutions to dissolve surface layers, while laser resurfacing uses targeted light energy to vaporize or heat the skin at a controlled depth. Many patients benefit from both at different stages of their treatment plan.
Peels and lasers are often used together — peels for surface pigment and texture, lasers for deeper structural remodeling. Your provider can also recommend microneedling or Vivace RF Microneedling as an alternative resurfacing approach. The right combination depends on what you’re trying to correct and how much downtime fits your life.
What to Expect: Before, During & After
A chemical peel appointment takes 30–60 minutes depending on peel depth and whether dermaplaning is added. Here’s the process from prep through to peeling.
Consultation & Skin Analysis
Your esthetician evaluates your skin type, current concerns, product usage, and sun exposure history. Based on this, they recommend the appropriate peel depth (Level 1, 2, or 3) and set expectations for downtime and results. First-time patients get a more thorough assessment to confirm peel candidacy.
Cleansing & Prep
The treatment area is thoroughly cleansed and degreased to remove makeup, oil, and surface debris. This ensures the acid solution penetrates evenly across the skin. If dermaplaning was added, it’s performed at this stage to remove dead surface cells and vellus hair for more uniform peel contact.
Peel Application
The product is applied according to its protocol while your provider monitors the skin. Tingling or warmth can occur. Tell them about significant discomfort; pain is not evidence that a stronger result is developing.
Neutralization & Calming
The finishing and removal steps depend on the formulation. For VI Peel, the initial four-hour period has specific product restrictions, followed by the supplied kit. Your provider explains the exact sequence before you leave.
Peeling & Results
Recovery depends on the product and depth. AAD guidance describes approximately 1–7 days for light peels and 7–14 days for medium peels; deeper medical peels require longer care. VI Peel often produces visible change over about a week, sometimes longer. Do not pick peeling skin.
Post-Peel Aftercare
Follow the kit for your exact peel. For VI Peel, begin the specified steps at four hours, use the provided products in order, and avoid exercise for 72–96 hours—or the full seven-day peeling process if prone to pigmentation. Ask when to restart skincare and makeup. See manufacturer aftercare guidance and our post-care instructions.
Treatment Options
Four options depending on your depth of concern and treatment area. Your provider will recommend the right one during your consultation.
Level 1 Peel
A lighter formulation for selected surface dullness or texture concerns. Visible flaking and sensitivity vary.
- 30 minute appointment

- 45 minute appointment
- Product-specific peeling period
- Pigment + texture correction
- Repeat treatment individualized
Level 3 Peel
An advanced peel option selected after assessment of the concern, skin tone, and previous response. “Level 3” is a clinic service name, not a guarantee of deeper or better correction.
- 60 minute appointment
- 5–7+ days of significant peeling
- Selected after assessment
- Product-specific eligibility
Body Peel
Chemical peels for the back, chest, or arms. Targets body acne, pigmentation, and rough texture in areas that don’t respond to topical products alone.

How Often & Why
Repeat peels can be considered when the first treatment was useful and well tolerated. Review the goal, recovery, and benefit at each visit.
A single light peel can be a way to assess a surface concern. Leave a recovery buffer before an event, especially if it is your first treatment.
A series is one possible plan. Repeated peels do not simply remove progressively deeper layers; another treatment or no further procedure may be more appropriate at a plateau.
Maintenance is optional and reflects recurrence, skin response, sun exposure, and home care.
Between peel sessions, HydraFacial or a Deluxe Facial can maintain hydration and clarity. For deeper resurfacing, ask about combining peels with microneedling or MOXI laser.
Pairs Well With
Home care and sun protection support the plan. Additional procedures should have a clear purpose and suitable spacing.

Dermaplaning
A separate exfoliation option that needs assessment before combining with a peel.

HydraFacial
Cleansing and hydration after the skin has recovered and HydraFacial eligibility has been checked.

BBL Photofacial
Broadband light for selected pigment or redness concerns, with separate screening and recovery.

RF Microneedling
An option for selected scars after assessment; discuss its additional risks and recovery before combining procedures.
How Chemical Peels Work
Chemical peels use controlled acid solutions to dissolve the bonds between damaged outer skin cells, triggering the body’s natural exfoliation and cell turnover process. The acid blend, concentration, and contact time determine how deeply the peel works — from a light surface refresh to deep clinical resurfacing.
As the treated layers shed over the following days, newer skin with improved texture, tone, and clarity is revealed. Beneath the surface, the controlled injury also triggers a wound-healing response that stimulates new collagen synthesis, gradually firming and smoothing the dermis over the following weeks.
Choose the formulation from your skin history, concern, and recovery needs. A stronger or deeper peel is not an automatic progression.

Real Patients, Real Results

I purchased a package of four chemical peels from Ellemes Medical Spa, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. Jaycee, who performed all four of my treatments, was absolutely amazing. Jaycee thoroughly assessed my skin using Ellemes’s laser imaging technology, listened to my concerns, and created a customized treatment plan based on my specific needs and goals. After four years of harsh weather exposure and neglect, my skin has truly been brought back to life in just four months.
Thank you ellemes for consistently giving great service. I have received sessions for microneedling/facials/peels with Lauren and Jaycee who are so skilled and knowledgeable about each procedure and provide excellent follow up care. Thank you Thao for your amazing precision work with injectables, you are truly an artist. I appreciate you all.

Anytime I had a question she always made herself available and also had great advice for how to proceed. She really cares. You don’t find that a lot anymore.”
“Lauren was great & very attentive! She answered all of my questions and gives great advice. Aside from the medications I’ve taken with a medical dermatologist, I have had the chemical peel with Lauren and received so many compliments and it’s been 2 months later. Will be a repeated client!”
