What causes sun damage
Years of UV exposure do more than cause freckles — they break down the collagen and elastin that keep skin firm, leaving rough, leathery texture and fine lines (solar elastosis).
UV exposure can contribute to uneven pigment and visible vessels as well as texture changes. A new, changing, bleeding or nonhealing spot needs a medical skin examination before cosmetic treatment; not every brown mark is a harmless sun spot.
