Laser targets pigment, so dark hair responds best — which describes most male body hair. All skin tones can be treated with appropriate settings; your provider confirms at the patch test. Blonde, grey, and red hair lack the melanin the laser needs — we’ll tell you honestly if your hair won’t respond.

Consultation & Patch Test
Your provider reviews your hair color and skin tone (the laser targets pigment in the follicle), confirms candidacy, and calibrates settings. A quick patch test verifies your skin’s response before full treatment.
Shave the Area
Arrive with the area cleanly shaved — the laser should meet the follicle under the skin, not hair on top of it. No waxing or plucking for 4 weeks pre-treatment; the root must be present to be treated.
Treatment Passes
Your provider works the area in systematic passes, the laser heating follicles gradually — most men describe warmth and occasional pinpricks, not pain. A full back takes 45–60 minutes; smaller areas 15–30.
Shedding Phase
Treated hairs push out and shed over 1–3 weeks — it can look like growth before it sheds. This is the treatment working, not failing.
Repeat & Reduce
Each session catches the next growth cycle. Density drops visibly through the series; by session 6–8 most men are smooth or down to sparse, fine regrowth. Annual touch-ups keep it that way if needed.
Post-Treatment Tips
Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner on the treated area, and wear SPF 30+ daily — treated skin is photosensitive between sessions. Skip hot showers, saunas, and workouts for 24 hours, and exfoliants for 3–5 days. Shaving between sessions is fine; waxing and plucking are not (the laser needs the root). The laser delivers light energy that’s absorbed by the pigment in each hair follicle, converting to heat that disables the follicle’s ability to regrow. Coarse, dark male body hair is the ideal target — it absorbs more energy per follicle than fine hair, which is why men often see faster density reduction than they expect.
