How it works

Why your under-eyes look dark

“Dark circles” describes an appearance, rather than one condition. Brown discoloration may involve pigment. Blue or purple tones can reflect visible vessels beneath thin skin. A groove between the lower eyelid and cheek can cast a shadow, while puffiness can create a different shadow beside it. More than one cause can be present.

Genetics, sun exposure, allergies and rubbing may contribute. At your consultation, we review when the darkness appeared, your skin history and any previous under-eye treatment. The aim is to identify what can reasonably improve before choosing a procedure.

New or worsening one-sided swelling, persistent irritation or a rash should be assessed medically before cosmetic treatment. Sudden vision changes or eye pain need prompt medical care.

Options for your under-eye concerns

Compare platelet treatments and skin-focused options for texture, fine lines and the appearance of tired under-eyes. Your provider will distinguish these concerns from pigment, puffiness and hollowing before recommending a plan.

Your providers

An assessment before a treatment

Our injector and skin-treatment providers assess different parts of the concern. The provider you see depends on the procedure selected. If the concern needs dermatology or eye-specialist care, that comes before cosmetic treatment.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Which treatment is best for my dark circles?
There is no single best option for every cause. PRP, PRF and related preparations may be considered for selected skin-quality concerns; device-based and topical options address different goals. Pigment, visible vessels, hollowing and puffiness need their own assessment. The right plan may include skincare, a procedure, or a medical referral.
Can dark circles be removed completely?
Improvement depends on the cause. Genetics, skin transparency and facial anatomy can limit what treatment changes. Some concerns need ongoing care; complete or permanent removal cannot be promised.
Can microneedling or a Salmon DNA Facial treat my eyelids?
Do not assume a facial treatment can be used on delicate eyelid skin. The exact device instructions, area and product matter. FDA clearance of a microneedling device does not cover delivering cosmetics or blood products into the skin; any proposed combination needs a separate discussion of its evidence and risks.
What should I know about Vivace near the eyes?
RF microneedling adds heat and requires its own assessment of the device, treatment area and settings. The FDA has reported serious burns, scarring, fat loss, disfigurement and nerve damage with certain RF microneedling uses. Discuss these risks and alternatives with your treating clinician.
Is Ariessence PDGF+ an injection?
The manufacturer markets Ariessence Pure PDGF+ solely as a topical cosmetic. It is not an FDA-approved injectable. Confirm the exact product and application rather than assuming it is interchangeable with PRP, PRF or a dermal filler.
What if my dark circles come from hollowing?
A shadow from a hollow is different from pigment in the skin. Selected hollows may be assessed for hyaluronic acid filler, while puffiness or prominent eye bags may call for a different approach. Filler has its own risks, including rare vascular complications that can cause skin damage or vision loss. Learn about under-eye filler.
Will a skin treatment help brown under-eye pigment?
Pigment in the skin is different from a shadow caused by hollowing. The cause and any irritation need assessment first. Care may include suitable skincare and sun protection; a full-face peel or laser plan is not automatically suitable around the eyes. Read about pigment-focused care.
Are under-eye injections risk-free?
No. Swelling, bruising, tenderness, infection and other complications can occur. Filler can also cause persistent puffiness or unevenness. Rare injection into a blood vessel can damage skin or cause vision loss or stroke; a cannula does not eliminate that risk. Your injector should explain the risks and alternatives before treatment.
How soon can I judge the result?
Allow swelling and bruising to settle before assessing an injection result. Any skin-quality change from platelet treatments develops gradually, and a first visit does not commit you to a series. Timing and the need for another visit depend on your response.
When should I see a doctor instead?
New or worsening one-sided swelling, a rash or persistent irritation deserves medical assessment before cosmetic treatment. Sudden vision changes, eye pain or an eye injury need prompt medical care. After an injection, unusual severe pain, pale or discolored skin, or any vision change requires immediate medical attention.
