Ideal Candidate
Best for patients who want to restore volume, refine contour, or smooth folds with a hyaluronic acid filler that can be dissolved if desired. Restylane is well-suited to precise work in mobile areas like the lips and under-eyes. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active infection or skin condition in the treatment area, or with a known allergy to a product component. What Restylane Does
Restylane is a collection of FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers manufactured by Galderma. Like all HA fillers, Restylane works by physically replacing the hyaluronic acid the skin loses with age — restoring volume, lifting soft tissue, smoothing folds, and rehydrating the dermis from within.

Under Eyes / Tear Trough
Restylane Eyelight is FDA-cleared specifically for under-eye rejuvenation — one of the few fillers with an indication explicitly for this area. It is formulated to minimize the Tyndall effect (the bluish discoloration that can occur when filler is placed too superficially in thin under-eye skin) and uses OBT technology for smooth, natural integration. The under-eye area requires conservative treatment — typically less than 1 syringe — and precise placement. When done correctly, it significantly reduces the appearance of dark circles and hollowing.
Nasolabial Folds & Smile Lines
Restylane Defyne and Refyne are OBT-formulated products designed specifically for dynamic facial folds. Restylane Lyft is commonly used for jawline definition and chin augmentation due to its high lifting capacity and structural stiffness suited for deep subdermal placement. It creates clean definition along the jawline and adds chin projection for improved profile balance. Jawline treatments typically require 2–4 syringes for visible structural results; chin augmentation typically requires 1–2 syringes. For patients also addressing submental fat, jaw filler pairs well with Kybella for a more complete lower face result.
Hands
Restylane Lyft is the only FDA-approved HA filler for hand rejuvenation. As the hands lose subcutaneous volume with age, tendons, veins, and bony structure become increasingly visible — creating a gaunt appearance inconsistent with a patient’s facial rejuvenation. Restylane Lyft restores volume across the dorsal hand, softening the appearance of veins and tendons. Treatment is quick — typically performed with a cannula across both hands in a single session — and results last approximately 6–12 months depending on hand activity and individual metabolism.
Restylane vs. Juvéderm
Restylane and Juvéderm are both FDA-approved hyaluronic acid filler collections, and both are offered at ELLEMES. The differences between them are technical — gel consistency, manufacturing process, and how each integrates with tissue — rather than a matter of one being clinically superior. Provider experience with a specific product often matters more than brand alone.

What to Expect
A filler appointment runs 45–60 minutes for a single area, and up to 90 minutes for multi-area or facial balancing sessions. Most patients return to normal activities the same day.
Consultation & Product Selection
Your provider evaluates your anatomy, reviews your goals, and selects the appropriate Restylane product for your area and desired outcome. Product selection is one of the most important decisions in producing a natural-looking result. Before-and-after photos are taken at this stage.
Numbing
Topical numbing cream is applied and allowed to take full effect before injection begins. Most Restylane products contain lidocaine in the formulation, which provides progressive numbing as the injection proceeds. Lips are the most sensitive area and receive the most thorough numbing protocol.
Filler Placement
Filler is placed using a fine needle or blunt-tip cannula depending on the area and provider preference. Your provider works incrementally — adding small amounts, assessing symmetry and volume in real time, and adjusting as they go. You’ll see progress throughout the session and provide feedback before the final result is set.
Post-Injection Assessment
Your provider assesses symmetry and overall result immediately after treatment. Minor in-session refinements are made as needed. Post-treatment photos are taken, aftercare instructions are reviewed, and a 2-week follow-up is scheduled to assess the settled result and address any touch-up needs.
Results & Settling
Volume is visible immediately, but results should not be judged until swelling resolves — typically at 7–14 days. Lips may feel firm and look swollen for 3–7 days before settling into their final shape. Bruising, if present, resolves within 5–7 days. Final results are assessed at your 2-week follow-up.
Post-Treatment Tips
Avoid touching, pressing, or massaging the treated area for 24 hours. Sleep on your back the first night if possible. Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive heat for 24–48 hours. Do not schedule dental procedures or facial treatments within 2 weeks of filler. Arnica started the day before treatment can reduce bruising.
