Vivace is best for patients who want measurable tightening and deep collagen remodeling — for significant laxity, it produces gradual improvement but is not a substitute for surgery.
Ideal Candidate
Suitability depends on the treatment indication and skin type. Vivace’s facial-wrinkle clearance at 1 MHz covers Fitzpatrick skin types I–V. This does not establish suitability for every skin tone, setting or treatment area. Not recommended during pregnancy, with active skin infections in the treatment area, or for patients with a pacemaker or other implanted electrical device. Your provider will confirm candidacy at consultation.
Vivace RF vs. Standard
Standard microneedling stimulates collagen through physical micro-injuries alone — effective for texture and tone. Vivace adds RF heat through the needles. The energy, depth and treatment area are selected individually; adding heat also changes the risks and does not guarantee a better outcome than standard microneedling.

Skin Laxity & Sagging
Vivace may improve the appearance of selected fine lines or mild laxity, but it does not replace surgical correction. For separate muscle-related wrinkles, your provider may discuss neurotoxins for the muscle-related concern, with timing based on recovery.
Acne Scars & Pitting
Selected acne scars may improve, but needling does not automatically release or fill every scar. Active acne and pigmentation require assessment before considering other procedures such as chemical peels to address both texture and discoloration.
Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Fine lines around the eyes, forehead, and mouth develop as the dermal collagen matrix thins. Vivace’s RF energy stimulates new collagen and elastin fibers at deeper tissue levels than topical treatments can reach, gradually thickening the skin and smoothing surface creases. Results build progressively over 3–4 sessions. For deeper expression lines, combining Vivace with dermal fillers provides both structural volume and surface-level smoothing.
Enlarged Pores
Pores appear larger when the surrounding collagen weakens and the pore walls lose structural support. Vivace’s RF heat tightens the tissue around each pore, reducing their visible size. Needle penetration also helps break up surface congestion. Between Vivace sessions, a HydraFacial can address a separate cleansing or hydration goal when your provider considers the timing appropriate.
Crepey Neck & Chest
The neck and décolletage have thinner skin with less collagen density than the face, making them especially prone to crepiness, horizontal lines, and textural aging. Vivace is effective in these areas because the RF energy reaches the deeper dermis where structural support is needed most, while the robotic motor adjusts needle depth for the thinner tissue. For patients with surface-level pigmentation on the chest, adding BBL Photofacial targets sun spots at a different tissue layer.
Jowls & Lower Face
Jowling occurs when the skin and soft tissue along the jawline loses collagen support and begins to descend. RF microneedling delivers targeted thermal energy along the mandibular border and lower cheeks, stimulating dense collagen that tightens and lifts the tissue non-surgically. While Vivace produces gradual, cumulative improvement, it is not a substitute for surgical intervention in cases of significant laxity. Your provider will assess during consultation whether Vivace alone is appropriate or whether a combination approach is recommended.
Vivace RF vs. Standard Microneedling
Both treatments use fine needles to stimulate collagen, but they differ in depth of tissue remodeling, tightening capability, and the types of concerns they address most effectively.
Standard microneedling uses mechanical needling for selected scar and texture concerns. Vivace adds RF heat, with a different risk and recovery profile. Your provider can discuss whether that addition fits your goals. Schedule a consultation to determine which approach is right for your skin.
What to Expect
A Vivace appointment runs 60–90 minutes including numbing time. Most patients return to normal activity the next day.
Consultation & Assessment
Your provider evaluates your skin type, laxity, scarring depth, and aesthetic goals. Based on this analysis, they determine the appropriate needle depth, RF intensity, and number of passes — and recommend how many sessions you’ll need.
Numbing & Preparation
A medical-grade topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and left on for 30–45 minutes. The skin is then thoroughly cleansed. Vivace’s robotic motor is calibrated to the settings your provider selected during assessment.
RF Microneedling Treatment
The Vivace handpiece delivers fine needles into the skin while simultaneously emitting RF energy at the tip of each needle. Your provider works methodically across the treatment area, adjusting depth as needed for different facial zones. Most patients describe the sensation as light pressure with mild warmth.
Post-Treatment Soothing
After treatment, your provider gives you a skin-care plan and explains which products to use or avoid. Device clearance does not establish the safety or benefit of delivering serums, drugs or blood products through the channels.
Recovery & Results
Redness and swelling may settle over the following days, while texture changes can take longer. Resume makeup and active products according to your aftercare plan. Contact the clinic about worsening pain, blistering or an unexpected reaction.
After Your Treatment
Avoid direct sun exposure and apply SPF 30+ daily. Do not use retinoids, exfoliants, or active ingredients for 5–7 days. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot showers for 48 hours. How Many Sessions & How Often
Some patients notice early texture changes, while visible remodeling may take weeks to months. The timing and degree of improvement vary.
A series may be recommended, with the next session based on healing and response rather than an assumption that each visit produces a fixed gain.
Maintenance is discussed after reviewing your results and goals; it is not proven to prevent normal aging or preserve a fixed collagen level.

How Vivace Works
Vivace RF Microneedling pairs the collagen-stimulating effects of traditional microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy delivered directly into the deeper dermis through the same needles.
Vivace applies RF energy through microneedles. Its FDA clearance includes facial-wrinkle treatment at 1 MHz in Fitzpatrick skin types I–V; it does not cover every cosmetic use or prove superiority over standard needling.
Motor-controlled insertion allows depth and speed settings. The clinical outcome still depends on anatomy, technique, energy and healing, and treatment may be uncomfortable. Redness, swelling and sensitivity can occur; recovery may last beyond the first two days.
