Sculptra
Injections
Rebuilds your own collagen — results last two or more years.

How Sculptra Works
Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers that place a gel beneath the skin for immediate volume, Sculptra is a biostimulator made from Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) — the same biocompatible material used in dissolvable sutures.
Once injected into the deep dermis, the PLLA microparticles trigger your fibroblasts to generate new collagen strands. This process occurs gradually over weeks and months, producing volume that is your own tissue rather than a synthetic filler.
Because the results build slowly, the change appears natural and is difficult for others to detect. Clinical studies show Sculptra results lasting 24 months or longer.
What Sculptra Does

Deep Volume Restoration
Rebuilds the deep structural foundation lost to aging, exercise, or weight loss — restoring volume in the cheeks, temples, jawline, and other treatment areas.

Improved Skin Quality
As new collagen forms over 2–3 months, overall skin thickness and texture improve — a secondary benefit patients often notice alongside the volume correction.

Gradual & Long-Lasting
Results appear over weeks rather than immediately, making the change difficult for others to detect. The collagen produced lasts 2+ years.
Concerns Sculptra Treats
Temple volume is one of the first areas lost with aging. As the temporal fat pad shrinks, it creates a sunken, gaunt appearance that ages the upper face disproportionately. Sculptra rebuilds this volume gradually by stimulating collagen production in the deep temple tissue, restoring the convex contour that frames the eye area and forehead.
The malar fat pads in the mid-face deflate and descend with age, creating flattened cheeks and deeper nasolabial folds. Sculptra is placed deep to the cheek tissue where it acts as a scaffold, triggering collagen that lifts and re-volumizes the mid-face over several weeks. For patients who want immediate cheek volume, hyaluronic acid fillers can be used in combination.
Volume loss along the jawline leads to jowling and a less defined lower face. Sculptra placed along the mandibular border builds structural collagen that sharpens the jawline contour over time. This is particularly effective for patients who have lost facial definition due to aging or weight fluctuations.
Deep smile lines form as the cheek fat pads descend and collagen diminishes. Rather than filling the fold directly (which can look unnatural at high volumes), Sculptra addresses the root cause by rebuilding volume in the mid-face above the fold. As the cheek lifts over weeks, the nasolabial fold softens as a result.
Beyond volumizing, Sculptra improves overall skin thickness and quality. The collagen produced tightens and firms skin from within, reducing crepey texture on the face, neck, décolletage, and even the backs of the hands. For surface-level texture concerns, microneedling complements Sculptra's deeper structural work.
Sculptra is widely used for non-surgical body contouring, particularly the Liquid BBL. Injected into the gluteal area, it builds collagen-based volume to enhance buttock projection, round out hip dips, and improve overall body shape — all without surgery, general anesthesia, or extended recovery.
What to Expect
Aftercare Essentials
Follow the 5-5-5 massage protocol without exception. Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Stay hydrated and avoid blood thinners or alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment. Sleep on your back the first night if the face was treated. Mild swelling, redness, or bruising is normal and resolves within a few days. Report any lumps, persistent pain, or skin changes to your provider. For full guidance, see our post-care instructions.
Vial-Based Pricing
The total cost depends on the number of vials used, which varies by treatment area and your anatomy. Your provider will finalize a plan during consultation.
Please Note
The actual number of vials needed varies based on your anatomy and goals. Sculptra treatments are typically split across 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. A consultation is required to finalize your treatment plan.

Thao Nguyen, RN BSN
How Many Sessions & How Often
A common clinical guideline for facial rejuvenation is approximately 1 vial per decade of age (e.g., a 50-year-old may need ~5 vials total, split across sessions). Your injector will customize this based on your anatomy. Learn more about our Liquid BBL and dermal filler options.
Sculptra vs. HA Fillers
Both Sculptra and hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers restore facial volume, but they work through fundamentally different mechanisms and timelines. Understanding these differences helps determine which approach best fits your goals.
Many patients benefit from combining both: Sculptra for broad structural rebuilding and HA fillers for precise, immediate corrections in specific areas. Your injector can recommend the right approach during a consultation. Explore all of our treatment options.

Pairs Well With
Sculptra rebuilds deep collagen over time — these treatments address complementary concerns at different tissue layers.

Radiesse
Another biostimulator — Radiesse provides more immediate structural lift while Sculptra builds gradual collagen beneath. Two mechanisms at different timelines.

Botox & Dysport
Neuromodulators relax dynamic wrinkles on the upper face while Sculptra restores volume to the mid-face and jawline — addressing two different causes of aging.

PRF Undereye
PRF addresses under-eye hollows and dark circles with growth factors while Sculptra handles broader facial volume restoration in the surrounding areas.

Microneedling
Microneedling refines surface texture and tone while Sculptra works on deeper structural volume — two complementary levels of collagen stimulation.

Questions
What to know before booking Sculptra at ELLEMES.

Sculptra is an FDA-approved biostimulatory injectable made from Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA). Unlike HA fillers that use a gel to create instant volume, Sculptra is a liquid biostimulator that triggers your body to produce its own collagen over several months.
Traditional fillers provide immediate volume by placing a physical gel beneath the skin. Sculptra provides gradual volume — you will look normal the day after treatment. Volume builds over 3–6 months as your own collagen forms, producing a more natural-looking result.
A common clinical guideline for full-face rejuvenation is approximately 1 vial per decade of life (e.g., a 40-year-old may require around 4 vials, typically split over 2 sessions). Body contouring and Liquid BBLs require more product, often 10+ vials. Your provider will assess your specific needs during consultation.
You will look normal when you leave the clinic. Around weeks 4–6, you may begin to notice improved firmness. Full volume and collagen production typically peaks around months 3–4.
Because Sculptra generates your own collagen tissue rather than leaving a gel under the skin, the results are durable. Clinical studies show Sculptra results lasting 2–3 years.
To ensure even distribution of the PLLA microparticles and reduce the risk of nodule formation, you need to massage the treated areas: 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days post-treatment. Your provider will demonstrate the technique.
Yes. Sculptra is commonly used for the Liquid BBL (non-surgical buttock enhancement), filling in hip dips, and adding projection to the glutes. It is also used to treat cellulite dimples and crepey skin above the knees or on the chest.
Sculptra is FDA-approved and biocompatible. Common side effects are temporary swelling, tenderness, or bruising at the injection site. With proper post-treatment massage, the risk of developing small palpable bumps (nodules) is low.
To reduce your chance of bruising, avoid blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E) and alcohol for a few days before your appointment.
